Nighthawks 14AA Select Baseball Wins State




Nighthawks 14 Taylor & Martin Select Baseball won the USSSA Nebraska State Championship over the Fourth of July weekend.  NH went 5 and 1 in the state tournament with their only loss recorded in the first game of pool play to Elkhorn 18-12. NH defeated Grand Island 14-8 in game 2 of pool and in game 3, NH defeated Beatrice 3-2 in extra innings.

Nighthawks returned in game 1 of bracket play to defeat Elkhorn 9-4.  In game 2 of bracket NH started strong scoring 7 runs in the top of the first.  NH defeated Kearney 9-4. The championship game began as a back and forth battle against Bellevue. In the top of the forth NH's scored 4 runs to take back the lead and in the seventh secured the USSSA State Championship with 9 runs and a win over Bellevue 16-4.  

Nighthawks 14 Taylor & Martin players are; Trae Bradburn, Kenny Bristol, Eliott Gloeb, Nathan Kyes, Curt Nielsen, Alex Poulas, Jared Roberts, Nate Samson, Jay Thayer, Bryce Weier and Skylar Winters.  The team is coached by Kurt Samson, Chuck Bradburn and Rod Thayer.

Nighthawks end their season 30-16.
